Guidelines to bear in mind

  • Please arrive at the World of Football 30 minutes before kick off in order to allow time to pay, be told which pitch you are on, to get changed and then warm up.
  • World of Football also only want one team member in the reception area at any one time since it can get pretty crowded and confused on match day with so many teams in the league.
  • World of Football insist that you pay before the game. So make sure you do this. When you pay you’ll get a receipt. Keep this as you may be asked later for proof of payment. WoF staff should note that you have paid but are not perfect and may not do so. Your receipt is your proof of payment. Without is you’ll be asked to pay again.
  • When you arrive at the World of Football venue, register at reception and you’ll be told whom you are playing and the pitch you are playing on that day. Make sure to meet with the opposing captain and keep the game friendly.  You are responsible for your players and also for agreeing the final score with the opposing captain.
  • In order to help agree the final score we strongly recommend captains each shout out the score every time someone scores, so that inconsistencies do not compound during the day.

Defensive players ARE allowed to run across their own D-box, but do so at the risk of having the ball hit them while they are in there.  If a defender touches the ball while inside the box it is a penalty to the attacking team. Goalkeeper. GK’s may not touch the ball outside of their area. They may stray outside their area but only on accident and it would not be advised to do so the ball could strike you, resulting in a penalty against you the goal keeper.

  • There is no slide tackling Also no tackling from behind

Strips. We feel that on a five-a-side pitch the distances involved mean you are unlikely not to recognise your own team mates. Many teams like to wear strips to add to the experience and feel part of a unit. With that in mind we suggest that you bring two tops. One dark and one light. However, this is merely a suggestion and not an instruction.

Pass back. You may not pass the ball directly back to the ‘keeper until it has been touched by another player (from either side). If this happens it’s a penalty for an infringement of the passback rule.

  • No outdoor football boots (ie blades or metal studs) are permitted to be worn by the teams during play. Please wear astro boots, small pimpled sole football boots, small moulded studs or regular trainers.

  • You can score from anywhere on the pitch, but attacking players (except the goalkeeper in his own box) are not allowed inside the D-box. This is generally the only real area of rules and player judgement from which arguments can arise.  It is best to be relaxed and enjoy the game as far as possible if you feel aggrieved.  Report any misgivings on the comments box on the Match Report Sheet.

  • If an argument DOES arise, then it is suggested that the captains acts gentlemanly and say that as the FIRST contested decision he’ll allow it to the way of the OPPOSING team, AS A SHOW OF GOOD WILL. That should keep the game going, and in a friendly fashion.  The opposing team should then give the next contested decision your way.  Compare this to the 11 aside game where a player goes down injured, the opposing team put the ball out of play, only for you to return it to them after he has received treatment.

  • At the end of the match fill in the score at reception on the pre-printed MATCH REPORT SHEET. You may also write the number of goals scored in that game by each player next to the scorers names.  Any new players, simply write their name at the bottom of your team list. They will appear in print the following week.

  • New players can be introduced to the league at any time, just register them on the day and write their name at the bottom of the match report sheet.

  • Any team that falls behind on the usual weekly payment amount and doesn’t pay the outstanding amount in full within 3 weeks/games will have a late payment charge of £5 added each week until the full amount outstanding, including those late payment charges is paid. Not having read this rule will be no defence.

  • World of Football will note carefully how much you have paid each week as a team on the Match Report Sheet. They will also give you a receipt of payment.  If they make a mistake in either not crediting you with having paid, or fail to give you a receipt it is YOUR responsibility to rectify it, or pay twice.  Its easy to prevent this happening.  Make sure you clearly stated your team name when paying each week and make sure you get a receipt.  Again, not having read this rule is no defence.

  • Finally, Ideal Leisure hold the final say in any decision and you can be expelled from the league at anytime. Any outstanding fees (entry fee, game fees or no show fee) must be paid but you will not be charged further after they are settled and you have left the league.
